Do you want a Nate? (You want a Nate.)
come getcher Nates right here!
Cross-posted from AI Marketing for Storytellers.
Last zoom sesh I showed off these amazing videos Nate’s done for me, that are doing CRANKING #s on Facebook right now:
Nate’s the guy Novae and I hired from the Philipines about a year and a half ago, and we’ve been training him in the Ways of the AI ever since, ha!
TONS of the comments want to know where the rest of the show is — which is proof that IT IS TIME.
I’m going to turn Bend Her into a vertical drama (in 28 languages MU-MOTHERFUCKING-HA no less!!!!) with his help, because the tech’s finally caught up with my ambition!!!
(Putting a graphic here from my back end so you can see how popular these are currently on FB, and so substack has one to show :P.)
Here’s what Jack thinks about that (and Nate, lol):
And OFC Nate’s good, he helped Novae roll images and videos for his Kings Weaver TV episodes and he’s been doing all of my Tiktok videos for my Tiktok girl for months now….
Anyhow — on the zoom, I talked about how people could train their own Nates, and then a friend asked, “Can we just…have Nate train them?” which is a valid point, because honestly even I’ve dropped out of the video training race, and am just coasting on Novae’s coattails, bc that ball’s moving too fast for me to follow and do all my code.
SO.
I talked to Nate, and we came up with a system that we think is fair to everyone!
He’s got friends he can train, and he figures it’d take them about 20 hours to get up to speed!
I am all about transparency (as you might have noticed from literally any of your interactions with me, heh) — so before we get to the money, here’s the real talk:
First off, if you want in, and you are not a paying member of this substack, you need to become one. I’m not offering my beloved PA’s services to someone who isn’t serious.
Second, you need to realize that you cannot get good work without good tech — Novae covered this some on the call, but you cannot expect to get quality videos and images and audio if you don’t cover the Kling or the Midjourney or the 11labs fees down the line, k? So you will be paying for their tech stack, in addition to yours, depending on if you keep yours, because otherwise the $ discrepancy between USD and the Phillipines is too great for them to bear. (You pay for everything in time or money — and this is the TIME to pay for it with CASH.)
Third — and I say this with gentle love, because I know authors, I know we’re neurotic (I certainly am!) — please be sane. (I’m super lucky that the majority of our subscribers are also people I know so I assume everything will be fine! But also just know that if this works out poorly, and you’re uncool to one of Nate’s friends, I will 100% hire them away from you in a heartbeat for the vertical drama & game studio I am almost certain to be running by the end of this upcoming summer.)
Fourth — get on WISE to pay, if you aren’t already. (That’s my affiliate link there, or you can do it w/out that.) It’s the easiest way to send $ internationally, with the least amount of fees for everyone involved. Get it set up now, if you’re serious.
Fifth, there’s a pretty big time difference between us and the Phillipines, so just know that going in — plus also unless you’re 100% serious about hiring someone fully, his friends will probably have day jobs for a bit till everything shakes out in the best possible way. Just frame your expectations for due dates appropriately — and also you, on your side, while they’re getting trained up, figure out the best infrastructure to support coordination. You’re going to be dealing with a lot of video and image assets, depending on who needs to post.
And speaking of posting, FWIW, Nate has access to my FB page for the Transformation Trilogy and its IG, and we’re working on him building up a Monster Security Agency one. He’s also a manager on my YT. But there’s an artform to knowing when to post and with what caption, so if that’s something you’re interested in, you’d have to train them to do that part yourself, or provide the captions, etc. (Remember, Tiktok is geo-locked, which is why my Tiktok girl is in the US for me — Nate just gives her the vids to use.)
Now that that’s covered tho, here’s the break down!
It’ll be $300 entirely up front — that’s $9/hr for Nate’s time, and $6/hr for his trainee’s time for twenty hours. He’ll be putting them in touch with you directly for their share of payment, so you’ll be paying them separate.
After that, the trainee will expect to continue to get paid $6/hr. (Since we hired Nate we’ve given him a raise, a Christmas bonus, and occasional paid time off as per his request, and I paid to help him upgrade his laptop. None of us are on a race to the bottom here — be a good boss, it is good for your soul.)
Most of his friends will expect to be hired at between 10-20 hours a week — Nate can figure out who can split whom if they want to be full time, based on expected hours needed.
All that said — he’s super excited to bring his friends on board — and I bet this opportunity will be awesome for a lot of you! And if the tech keeps revving up like we all know it’s going to, things could get SUPER COOL SUPER FAST.

xoxo!
