Okay so earlier in the week I shared this story elsewhere, about a tech bro who, once he found out his dog had cancer, created an mRNA vaccine with ChatGPT’s advice to help cure his dog —

It’s a sweet story, and I went and shared it on a (purportedly) scientific technology channel in a slack where (purported) science fiction authors hang out annnnnnddddd

Because SF/F authors are some of the biggest luddites on the planet, they basically shit on it.

On a man.

Trying—and succeeding!—to cure his dog’s cancer.

Why?

Because it used AI.

I just cannot, anymore, people.

I. Just. Cannot.

I have like two places I can hang out on the internet right now.

TWO.

Because I’m not hanging out with idiots anymore.

I don’t care what kind of ‘good advice’ they (purport) to have in the meantime.

If I have to sit through another, “Oh noes, the Kickstarter for Authors group doesn’t penalize people for using AI!” talk on an author discord again, if I have to see people doing one more anti-AI purity circle jerk on threads, if I have to listen to people who haven’t published since 1963 howl at the indignities of the approaching future, I will burn everyone and everything down around me.
