Living the Dream at Last

Turtles and Tokens --

Man. This ENTIRE TIME I’ve been doing AI-bs, it’s been towards the goal of being able to walk away and have my lil’ AI army doing everything without me.

And today I got to touch that dream.

I had one machine running covers for my Czech and Slovak dragon books — another working on my full cast AI audio system (Fable and Sol both, via a walkie and timers) and a third doing uploads to Steamworks for me for updates to Readerpet that Steam asked for and…this is me (well, was me, I’m inside now, with a slight sunburn):

Like — my vendor skill is gonna upload those epubs for me tonight, once these covers are ready and I set my epub maker loose and the Steam thing is done now, and the audio thing is still ticking along while I was outside swimming in the ocean (and, making covers out there for a new thing with my phone in its waterproof case bc I’m me and can’t leave well enough alone, LOL).

But…finally.

Fucking FINALLY.

The thing I’ve been hoping for ever since AI got here — that I could automate enough shit to handle vast swathes of my admin without me — is finally underway.

It’s not 100% smooth sailing, and it does need me to check in and nudge things forward occasionally every few hours — but — the level of work it would take me personally to be doing all of this by myself would be insane. Just geniunely prohibitive.

Whereas now? I can orchestrate things on my way out the door to the beach.

I saw something in a class-place not that long ago where someone was going to teach people how to make Amazon attribution links by hand and I kind of couldn’t quite believe it.

Why would you do anything by hand anymore when you don’t have to?

When you could assign it to an AI and walk away and go to…the beach?

And just have it be done?

This is the future that I keep being mystified that other people can’t see, over on Threads, clutching their pearls so aggressively.

Do they…really want to be moving text elements around in Canva?

Do they…really want to be handcrafting their own epubs in Vellum?

Do they…really want to waste hours of their singular and precious life doing shit the ‘hard way’, when it’s not even the good stuff you might wanna do the hard way, like writing, as opposed to, all the other bullshitty junk you just have to do as a solopreneur?

Like — when they come around, and realize how much time they wasted after AI became a thing, and, for what…will they gnash their teeth and wail? Heh.

Probably not, and some of them won’t ever come around, I know (and let’s leave out the fact that ‘not coming around to AI’ means that you get to blame your lack of a career on AI forevermore, and not on the lowest common denominator, which is always yourself).

Meanwhile — well, I’ve got crazy Arachne news as of two nights ago (!) but I’ll share that later, the clouds have parted and I have waves to catch <3

xo!
