Money AI Has Saved Me Since Our Last Chat

cha-ching!

Cross-posted from AI Marketing for Storytellers.

I’m kind of on this mission now to replace every piece of software in my life with custom versions that are better suited for me, and also FREE. (F R E EEEEEEE.)

So I started at the list of my expenses and I have….

Recreated Publisher’s Rocket (although TBF that was a one time $199 expense once.)

Recreated Rewind — which was a Shopify app that backed up my store once a week. Now I created a Shopify API (Code talked me thru it!) and it links up to Supabase (which is my NEW BOYFRIEND) and that saves me $29.99/mo

I recreated Calendly — https://cassiealexander.com/calendar — it shows people my availability, charges them via my stripe, pops it into my Google calendar and sets us up with a Google Meet. (I don’t even know what Calendly was going to charge me, all I know is my free trial ran out and fuck that.)

I recreated Linktree — https://cassiealexander.com/links — especially timely, bc it just expired, and fuck if I was gonna pay them $99/year for what is essentially a cute linking service? Nah, brah.

I realized that, by pulling all of my Shopify into Supabase to back it up, that I’ve gained the ability to manipulate it there, which is Timely and Amazing.

I think a lot of people aren’t prepared for how much Freshness to the Latest Crawlers is going to be the name of the game, coming up, and how often you’re going to need to change things up, even slightly, to become visible to more AI. (They weigh newer data over old.)

(Yes. This means you’re going to need to refresh your blurbs and everything else on Amazon too, btw, potentially like every quarter. Welcome to the future, learn to automate.)

The thought of changing my entire store to be more legible to AI — in 28 langs (or, cough fifty) coming up here, no less, aie! — was physically painful…until last night, and now I’m pretty thrilled.

And because all of this data is in Supa Base — my store’s deets, my linktree, etc — do you have ANY IDEA how WILDLY FLEXIBLE it’s going to allow me to be?

Am I doing a Valentine’s Day sale?

All I have to do is toss some text and some graphics into a folder, point an agent at it, and say, “Get this on the store and my linktree (my vs of it), link everything up for me — and remember to take everything down and put it back like it was on Feb 20th.”

And boom.

It’ll be done.

(I’ve got my new version of Rewind to run once a month, every month — agents can schedule tasks for you now, it’s bomb.)

Now, not everything’s replacable.

I am going to replace my email/newsletter/Klayvio flows — once How to Think with AI: Leverage for the Rest of Us is done here this upcoming week, it’s on deck, seriously, I haven’t sent out a newsletter in two months. (Though re-appropriating that $400 over to Claude Code has already earned out a hundred times over, well, two times over literally, but the other 98 emotional times have been valuable as well, lol.)

BUT — after talking with my AI polycule, we decided that it’s not worth replacing Many Chat currently (would require getting a Meta API, which seems like a PITA…so far!) and we don’t want to replace Bookfunnel, not because we couldn’t, but because they deal with customer service for us, and that’s really their moat. I don’t want to have to recreate their app just for people to read my books special, and deal with all the concommitant nonsense with customers that would entail.

What’s so lovely about doing things this way though is that I literally just need to ask my agents for changes.

When it re-created my Linktree the first time through, it forgot to put it on a dark theme’d background, so all of the white text disappeared.

All I had to do was log into my instance of Code where I was having this chat and say, “Hey, can I get this in dark mode?”

And voila!

Did I need to know how any of this worked while it talked to itself?

Helllllll no.

All I have to know is that it worked for me:

And that’s the beauty of AI.

more soon (more crazy stuff soon, ‘cause, uh…yeah. I’m a little in the 50+ language weeds rn, DO NOT ASK…but…uh, really….)

xo!
