Offering my White Hat Services Hacking Author Services...
because, uh, yeah --
Cross-posted from AI Marketing for Storytellers.
So something you may not know about me is that I do not take ‘No’ for an answer, and my operating baseline is, at any point in time, potentially up to 49% spite.
I started this Substack solo last year in late March or early April, right after I’d gone to the Upscale conference in SF, and not too long after I went to a Hailuo in-person party at the Fal offices, and hung out and talked enthusiastically with a ton of their representatives there.
But after that, I…did not get picked to be a creative partner.
So.
I hacked their video creation app with some python and a screen clicker, got three of their biggest $$$ accts, and then set up, on three assorted laptops, perpetual video runs, to run videos for me to peruse thru and use for my social media and facebook ads around the clock.
That’s when I started thinking strongly, and learning strongly, about how to work with AI and infrastructure.
And it made me think a ton about how to manage giving those accounts enough material going in, and how to read all of the videos coming out, etc etc etc.
I then applied that knowledge to Midjourney (and Midjourney video) and ran running up to…5 accounts? At one time? I think? It was a little overboard there for a bit, I was mad with power, and they did ban a few of those accounts in the end — but it didn’t matter, because you can almost always create new ones.
And then — I do LOVE Scribeshadow, but unfortunately their models were too generic for my monster romance purposes, so I went and built Arachne to translate my books into 28 different languages (we’re working on automating cover design and epub creation now to capstone that) —
I don’t think I’m going to share Arachne here with everyone, mostly because it’s taken 300+ hours of my life to solve (I can’t even say reverse engineer here, ‘cause it’s way more bespoke than Scribeshadow, which again, no shade, ‘cause they got me to #9 in the French store — but I just want something more personalized to me that learns with each book) — 300+ hours of my life and THOUSANDS of dollars of compute to test — tho I might be taking on some people’s books for testing purposes, where you’d pay the API costs not me (the high end of the API cost is $0.0005 per word, generically, but as it gets smarter it calms down some), but it knows: Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazilian), Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese and Ukrainian now….
Anyhow, last night I cracked an actual author services thing (no, I won’t tell you why or how, or towards what end, just know that my system wound up pulling and storing data from their system for about 10 hrs) using the magic of Claude Code, annnnnnnddddd yeahhhhhhh….
Anyone who is as smart as me (which all of you are!) could absolutely figure out how to do the same dang thing.
And you would want to, actually, because Doing That Thing By Hand fucking SUCKS and takes hours (or days!), and I personally don’t believe a business model should be created around ‘solving friction’ if you’re not actually solving it, really, just passing the buck onto authors, who then have to laboriously solve it for themselves. (If you’re mad at me for the bandwidth, then just offer me an enterprise level subscription to charge me for the access and let me go to town.)
Anyhow.
So, yeah, if you’re the author of something that you want authors to interact with, and you’re interested in learning how the more michevious among them could potentially automate interacting with your shit, or recreating it entirely, hit me up on my Calendly, and let’s talk.
xo!

PS: I now have two Claude Max accounts. Why? So that I can pull shit like this off in one of them around the clock while I use the other for day to day thinking.
