Ontology and the Importance Thereof

especially in regards to Shopify

Cross-posted from AI Marketing for Storytellers.

Hey so peeps on the call today got a glimpse into the back end of my Shopify store, where I have gone to Rather Insane Levels of explaining how my products relate to one another and readers at large, and done so in a fashion that AIs can read.

I didn’t know until just now that ontology is the philosophy of ‘how do these things relate to one another’ (bc I finally looked it up) — I’d just been running w/it bc all my AIs are in love with it so much.

If you want to categorize your Shopify products ontologically (which, yes, you do), it’s something that the in-house Shopify LLM can begin to help you with if you want to get a start — it can tell you what to create and then you can give that to your AI of choice and have it put it into a schema for you, and then your AI of choice can tuck that into your Shopify’s back end via API.

If you want to see the grand depths and breadths I’ve gone to with my ontology, because I recognize that AIs understanding what my products are is literally going to be the name of the game in the future (very literally. VERY LITERALLY.) you’ve gotta pay up, because all of my sweet, sweet data is behind the paywall at the bottom of this post ;)

xoxo!

PS: also if people are trying to sell you a class about how to use Shopify and there isn’t a whole damn section on this, ask for your money back.
