Facebook Ads at Scale: Powered by AI, Fueled by Spite

Cross-posted from AI Marketing for Storytellers.

When I say I need to use AI to market…this is why:

What you’re looking at here is every Facebook ad campaign I currently have running.

Every single property I have, in up to four languages.

First off, AI made this possible, with some of those translations, 100%.

Secondly…AI also makes it profitable.

Pre-AI, managing this many portfolios would’ve been quite literally insane, and you would’ve been limited to probably running ads on your strongest performers, sheerly because of your available free time.

But…now?

Here’s how I do this:

I just recently booted up my French and Italian ads.

I worked with my GPT to get copy to put on my videos in French and Italian, ran it through my system, used it for copy for my ads themselves, and popped them up a few days ago.

Here’s why I do this:

Because every dollar that I spend on FB gets me back between 1.5-2 (sometimes far more) back.

Which is way way more than I’d ever get from a bank.

There’s no other place I can personally invest my money and get it back.

Which isn’t to say that all my decisions have been financially sound — y’all saw me lose money on Photobomb (although I still have Ideas regarding that! I requested Audible to let it out of exclusivity early and they said no, but after its 90 days are up I’ll take it wide and try again, plus I’m gonna start doing ads for it with my new pretty booktrailers here, it’s just been low priority.)

But, here’s where I started, with Italian ads — this is my last 90 days:

So you can see how my sales drifted down after FB took my old account down — and how as of the 19th, when I started playing the game again, things began to bounce up.

And here’s what I’ve made in Italian since the 18th, when things started warming up:

And here’s what I’ve spent in Italian on FB ads since the 18th (the Dragon ads just went live before I started writing this, is why they’re still processing):

Let’s zoom in:

So that’s slightly more than 2x, and I suspect things’ll get even stronger as I start getting more read-thru, especially on the longer series.

And here’s France for 90 days:

Everything trending down — except for that one spike, I think Amazon did a deal on one of my books? — until the 18th when I started to get my feet back under me again.

And let’s zoom in to when I started ads in France:

And let’s look at my FB ads for that time:

Substantially less good, but still profitable at 1.5x:

I’m good with letting most of these ride for another week and seeing how they go, and then pruning or chaging course depending — which, since I’ve got my booktrailer machine working, is fairly easy for me.

Now — in the US, my math gets messier, because I’m also running sales ads, which boost the sales of those books, and I get to factor in audiobooks, which are $ (except for Photobomb, heh, aie!)

But — a year ago? The thought of running this many ads, trawling through the currents, seeing if I get bites, having the patience to do this much content creation — each of these ads has 3 videos and 3 different pieces of ad copy! — would’ve made me weep.

Hell, six months ago it would’ve pained me, LOL — my Fb ads girl would be all, “And here’s your homework!” and I was all, “Ooooooor not?” and I’d skip out, or call things off as ‘good enough’ instead of being able to maximize everything, everywhere, all at once.

‘Cause common sense says not all of your books’ll be winners, and that making an extra $30/day in Italian, well, it might not be worth the effort of set up and maintenance…

But $30 x 365?

That shit’s $10950 over the course of a year.

And now?

I don’t have to leave that on the ground.

Bedtime now, work tomorrow!

xo!
